Check out Izell Pyramid's new Bobby Raps-produced track "One U"

words by Evan Winter

Just a few weeks after releasing his last single, "Absence,"  Minneapolis vocalist Izell Pyramid is back with another new track titled "one u."

Where "Absence" pushed a slow, textured sound, "one u" picks up the tempo with a sparser, spaced-out beat that pulsates with calm and collected energy. The writing –– certainly one of Pyramid's strengths –– is as good as ever: "I know you're so scared, had to make a decision / We could go on, but this isn't living / Can't even front, you've become a distraction / Too nervous to tell you, scared of your reaction."

The beat is produced by Bobby Raps, the St. Paul rapper and producer whose long list of musical accomplishments now includes working on The Weeknd's new album Starboy, for which he co-wrote and co-produced "Sidewalks" featuring Kendrick Lamar.
