Today we bring you an exclusive listen to the first offering from an exciting Twin Cities soul project, a groovy number called Wax Line. If you've been in tune with the local scene over the past few years, you'll recognize Lady Midnight as the versatile Adriana Rimpel, formerly of Afro-Latin ensemble Malamanya as well as electronic trio VANDAAM. This year, Rimpel has stepped forward into the solo spotlight for the first time after scene-stealing features on I Self Devine and Muja Messiah's 9th House project. She's backed by the production of Erick Anderson, aka Afrokeys, who you may recognize from his time with Atmosphere as well as work with I Self Devine, Brother Ali and Raheem Devaughn. The track is lifted from Lady Midnight's forthcoming EP due out this early spring on Anderson's label Blackwave Music Group. You can catch the duo at our show this Friday, where they'll be opening for KING.
