South Minneapolis rap duo Nazeem & Spencer Joles share the first visual off their versatile full-length debut, The Album.
The self-directed video for "The Kids Are Alright" reflects their honest, candid approach to music –– a style previously described by the artists themselves as "hobo rap," meaning they prefer to live in the moment and just do what comes naturally. The video is disarmingly genuine; unfeigned camaraderie emanates as the two share their spotlight with friends, family and community members (and Har Mar Superstar).
While the imagery is rather cheerful, the song itself is a frank look at the sometimes-harsh realities of growing up. The soulful sample gives the song a distinct throwback feel, while Spencer and Nazeem drive the point home with raps reminiscent of their respective upbringings.
