words by Eamon Whalen
Since I've become familiar with Psymun, all the way back in 2012 when he was passing out CDs in a Waka Flocka Flame shirt at Soundset (the infamous mega-storm year I believe), his production has been continually reshaping, reforming and evolving. From the jazzy loops provided for Chester Watson, or the silky, hypnotic work with K.Raydio or the genre-manipulation with Thestand4rd, you never know what Psymun is bringing to the table, except that you should perk your ears towards it.
It's been nearly two years since the Minneapolis by-way of Hudson by-way of St. Paul producer has released music, and so maybe "WEAKLING's" glorious interplay of moused up and pitched down vocal samples, laser-synths and pulsating percussion should be a sign of things to come. Or maybe, as his catalogue can attest to, the next release will be completely different. Either way, we'll be listening.
