Listen to Moses Sumney's new song "Lonely World"

words by Evan Winter

In the middle of a tour with James Blake and Vince Staples, Los Angeles singer and songwriter Moses Sumney shares "Lonely World," a jarring new song from his upcoming EP Lamentations. The virtuouso Thundercat plays the bass guitar on the track, which is accompanied by an intriguing new video as well.

The hauntingly beautiful track begins with soft, eerie production and Sumney's ghostly and harmonic voice, and builds slowly throughout – concluding with a crashing, high-energy climax. The relatively abstract visual, directed by Sam Cannon, is hypnotizing though largely stagnant.

Lamentations will be five tracks long and will include his previously shared single "Worth It," along with "Lonely World." Sumney performed at Eaux Claires and Moogfest festivals this summer, and he's featured on Solange's new album A Seat at the Table
