Twelve'len shares heartfelt new record, "Sixteen"

words by Evan Winter

Miami singer-songwriter Twelve'Len shared a poignant new song today called "Sixteen." A note from the genre-bending Carol City native explains the genesis of the record: "At the end of my year 16 I found love & God. It was my music. & that's what this record is about."

Produced by Zach Fogarty, "Sixteen" beams with positivity and warmth. The tender love tune builds slowly with looming synths, sparse percussion and affectionate croons from the rapper-turned-singer, who cites influences like Marvin Gaye, Frank Ocean and Sampha.

Tweve'Len said "Sixteen" – which is available now on Soundcloud and will be on major streaming services soon – was released in honor of his upcoming Red Bull Sound Select show in Miami with Goldlink and Pell.

We talked to Twelve'Len a little while back about his background, his inspirations, his latest album Fri(end)s, and a whole lot more, which you can check out here.
